Staff Achievements

On 1st July this year, Sharon and Dawn ran a 10k race for the Jane Tomlinson appeal. This was done in a temperature of 29 degrees! Luckily the army cadets were on hand to give out water. Well done to both for completing this.

10K Trail Race

Cathy at the end of the Northern Jumble, a 10k trail race in Slaithwaite, Huddersfield. As you can see she had trouble in the muddy slippery conditions but still managed to complete the race in 1 hour 5 minutes.

5K Run

Congratulations to Sharon who recently did a 5K run for charity in Liverpool. It was called the Scouse 5k and the 5000 runners all wore wigs and fancy dress. Sharon and her friends raised £150 for Clatterbridge cancer research.

Great North Run

Our business manager, Dawn, recently took part in the Great North Run. We are all very proud of her and her achievement. She even got to meet Mo Farrah at breakfast!

Picture taken with Mo Farah

Watching the Great North Run each year on television - admiring the "ordinary" people doing such an extraordinary thing such as running a half-marathon. Difficulties they have had to face along the way, the huge sums of money raised supporting charities, the amazing atmosphere and thinking "one day could I dare to dream?"

The poem:

I don't look like a runner and a runner doesn't look like me But once I cross that finish line a Great North Runner I'll be

The support from waiting in the corals waiting to start to crossing that finish line was just amazing - so proud to have completed it. It was wonderful!

'Pretty Muddy Race for Life'

Congratulations to one of our teachers, Sharon, who successfully completed the 'Pretty Muddy Race for Life' in May this year! She managed to raise £220 to go towards cancer research.

'The Mint Imperials'

Kath did a gig on Saturday 16th September with her band 'The Mint Imperials' at the Hickleton Village Club. It went well and was supported by some of the Maple staff.
